Tinychat, creator of a video chat app for Facebook with 1.6 million monthly active users, is going Apple hunting.
Tinychat version 2.0 for the iPhone and iPad allows users to video chat with up to 12 people. The app — which debuted on the iTunes App Store Wednesday and is available free-of-charge — is compatible with 3G and WiFi, and it will work with 3GS or higher iPhones and all iPads.
While the description of version 2.0 of the app points out that it “no longer requires Facebook,” it does allow users to join Tinychat rooms on the social network (see video below).

The information on the left-hand side of Tinychat’s entry in the iTunes App Store also warns of “frequent/intense profanity or crude humor; frequent/intense sexual content or nudity; and frequent/intense alcohol, tobacco, or drug use or references,” saying users must be at least 17 to download the app. What exactly is going on in these chat rooms?
Readers: Have you ever used Tinychat or any other video chat applications for Facebook, and would you add one to your iPhone or iPad?
